I’m definitely ready for the weekend and a busy weekend it will be. I went to the doctor last night because of some stomach pain I was having. It started on Tuesday, I had a really sharp stabbing pain in my lower left side of my stomach. Seeing as how it didn’t stay and I felt better I didn’t think it was of any concern. Thursday when I got up the whole left side of my stomach had a dull pain and if you pushed in on it, it hurt from below my belly button and over. So, I had no idea what was going on and of course I search the internet trying to diagnose myself. I went to the doctor, where they proceeded to get a urine sample, blood and took some x-rays of my stomach. All they could come up with was that I may be constipated and that my colon may be stopped up. Also, the doctor informed me there was a chance it could be diverticulosis, which is where polyps form on the colon. Yikes, that scared me pretty good. Anyways, he told me to go home, take some milk of magnesia and go on a liquid diet for 24 hours to flush my system out. Wow, it sucks being on a liquid diet, even if it is just for 24 hours. I am SO hungry right now. I think I can probably eat a fairly normal dinner, seeing as how it’s been almost 24 hours now. All I’ve ate the last 24 hours is jello, chicken broth, water and sprite and it has definitely worked. If I was stopped up, I am definitely not anymore. Everything in me has had to come up by now. I’m feeling empty and starving, but the stomach pain is gone!! I’m glad of that for sure. My stomach is no longer sore to touch or press on. When the doctor pressed on it, it really hurt in certain spots. The funny thing is that I didn’t think I was constipated. I think I’m fairly regular, I go at least once, if not twice a day on most days. Maybe my system isn’t allowing it all to come out though? I don’t know, I’m in shock, I wasn’t expecting it to be that. I’m grateful it wasn’t something serious though, thank God! I can’t stand needles or blood, I’d go crazy if I have to have surgery, they’d have to knock me out or give me nerve pills. All I can think about now is food and wanting to eat. Ughh, I can’t wait until dinner. I’m not going to go crazy though, the doctor said that if the pain did go away I could return to eating solid foods but to start out with something starchy. If it didn’t go away he gave me two prescriptions for antibiotics to start taking. Thank you God that the pain is now gone! I just hope it doesn’t come back or happen again. I’m so afraid that something could be wrong with my colon or digestive system, but I’m so young, it shouldn’t be, but I have eaten a lot of red meat since I’ve been alive. I’m definitely going to start changing my diet and eating less red meat and more things with fiber in them to help me digest my food properly and make it easier on my colon.
