The ultimate test of a moral society is the kind of world that it leaves to its children. ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer

  • I’ve wondered and pondered this question forever: Why do bad things always seem to happen right around the holidays? Holidays, whether it be Christmas or Valentine’s Day always seem to have something happen around them that just bums you out or ruins the holiday for you. I guess I have a lot of bad memories around life and bad things happening either before, during or right after a holiday. Then again, I guess it is bound to happen to most people. You can’t control when bad things happen and eventually they’re going to happen around a holiday. There is no good timing for something bad to happen to you, that’s for sure. You are supposed to be happy and cheerful around the holidays, yet, how can you be, in the midst of something bad happening to you or someone you know? Don’t worry, be happy is a good philosophy. But there are bad things that happen in life that just kill you and upset you to the point of not wanting to be happy at that moment, or maybe even for a while. I guess all we can really do is take life one day at a time and do our best to be happy with what we have and with life. There’s always tomorrow and there’s always hope.
